Sankara Jayanthi Mahotsavam at Kanchi - 5th May 2011
Every year as part of Shankara Jayanthi celebrations, Acharya vigraha is taken to various teerthas in Kanchipuram and Abhisheka and vishesha pujas are conducted. Yesterday ( 4th May), Sri Acharya's Vigraham was taken in a procession to the holy tank of Sarva Teertham and Abhishekam & Puja was performed. Today (5th May), Sri Acharya was taken in a procession from Srimatam to the Upanishad Brahmendra Matam on an elephant . Abhishekam was performed to Sri Adi Sankara on the banks of the adjoining tank, followed by Alankaram and Archana. His Holiness Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji accompanied the procession and performed pujas to Sri Acharya.
