Sankara Jayanthi Mahotsavam at Srimatam, Kanchipuram 4 to 8 May 2011

With the benign blessings of His Holiness Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetadhipati Sri Sankaracharya Swamiji, the Jayanthi Mahotsavam of Sri Adi Sankaracharya is to be celebrated at Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Kanchipuram, from 4th May 2011 to 8th May 2011 - the Jayanthi day.

Veda Parayanam, Bhashya Parayanam, Bhajans, Sloka Parayanam, discourses etc. are to be conducted and the celebrations include Rudrabhishekam to Sri Acharya on 8th May.

Devotees are invited to participate and receive the blessings of Sri Tripurasundari Sametha Sri Chandramouleeswara Swami and Sri Acharya Swamijis.

At the Kamakshi Temple, the Mahotsavam will be celebrated for 10 days commencing 8 May 2011( Chittirai Month 25th). Visesha Abhishekam and pujas will be performed at Adi Sankara's shrine in the temple. In the evenings, the Acharya's Utsava vigraham will be taken around the presiding deity Devi Kamakshi's shrine. 10 slokas from the Soundaryalahari will be chanted every day. On 17 May 2011, the utsava vigraham of Sri Acharya along with devi Kamakshi will be taken out in a procession along the four Raja Veedhis.
