Shankara Jayanthi Mahotsavam celebrated in Kanchipuram
11- 15 May 2013 With the Benign Blessings of Their Holinesses Pujyasri Shankaracharya Swamijis of Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Shankara Jayanthi Mahotsavam was celebrated in different parts of the country. At Kanchipuram, the celebrations took place at Shrimatam and other places in the benign presence of Their Holinesses. Veda Parayanam, Bhashya Parayanam, Bhajans, Shloka parayanams, discourses and other programmes were held including Rudrabhishekam to Sri Acharyal on 15th May 2013 - Shankara Jayanthi day. Every year as part of Shankara Jayanthi celebrations, Acharya vigraha is taken to various teerthas in Kanchipuram and Abhisheka and vishesha pujas are conducted. Accordingly, Sri Acharya's Vigraham was taken in a procession to the holy tank of Sarva Teertham and Abhishekam & Puja was performed. Sri Acharya was taken in a procession from Srimatam to the Upanishad Brahmendra Matam on an elephant . Abhishekam was performed to Sri Adi Sankara on the banks of the adjoining tank, followed by Alankaram and Archana. Veda Poorthi Pariksha Certificates Distributed
Shankara Jayanthi celebrations at the University At Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Maha Vidyalaya, Shankara Jayanthi was celebrated in the benign presence of His Holiness Pujyashri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji.
