Sri Sankarajayanthi celebrations
On 15th May 2005 at about 9.30 a m after Vigneswara Puja, Avahanthi Homam and Rudrabhishekam to Lord Chandramouleeswara was performed at Sri Venkateswara Temple, Helensburgh, NSW 2058. Quite a number of devotees chanted Sri Rudram during the Abhishekam. After the puja, Yajur Veda Ganapatam was chanted as well as Tevaram. There was earlierPrakara Pradikshnam with Nathaswaram.
Then Adi Sankara Gurupuja was conducted in all its sacredness. Group recital of Thotakashtam followed.
Sankara Vijayam Mohamudgara Dance Drama by children was quite exhilarating. Bhajagovindam was the backdrop and three artists performed the dance bringing out superbly the import of every stanza. Smt. Hamsa Venkat choreographed the dance.
All the children (with their innocence) excelled each other in attracting the appreciative attention and interest of the audience. Some of the depiction in the life of Adi Sankara was quite movingly projected.
Sthothranjali to Adi Sankara by the musicians intertwined with three fine pieces if Dance was tabled. A newly composed Krithi with the blessings of Periava ( message reached just in time) was sung by Smt. Hemalatha Ganesan (AIR Artist). The Krithi
" Namaami Bhagavathpada Sankaram" extolled the glory of Adi Sankara. Each and every rendition of Sthothras as well as the scintillating Bharatha Natyam pieces vied with each other for excellence. The devotees were all in praise of every item of the programme.
About 400 devotees attended the function. Maha Prasadam was provided to all.
The exhibition "Pradarsan by Kanchi Mutt" within the temple premises was got up very elegantly. Sizable people showed interest and got the leaf lets. The religious and social service by Kanchi Mutt was spot lighted prominently.
An informative Souvenir adorning with the picture of Adi Sankara worshiping Lord Venkateswara (sent by Acharyal)was got up on the occasion.
