75th Jayanthi Mahotsavam of His Holiness - A Report-
7th - 9th August, 2009.
The 75th Jayanthi Mahotsavam of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal , the 69th Acharya of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam was celebrated in a grand and reverential manner at Sri Matam , Kancheepuram .
The day started with Viswa Roopa Darshan to the devotees at 5AM . At 6AM, HH Swamiji, after paying obeisance to His Guru at the Guru's Brindavan, went in a procession to the Temple of Goddess Kamakshi. A special milk abhishekam with 108 pots of milk was performed and thereafter did Go Daanam of 75 milch cows at the Temple Premises to Veda Pandits who are well versed in ceremonial sacrifices.
HH Swamiji returned to Sri Matam after performing special poojas at the temple situated on the bank of the Sarva Teertham . It was at this temple that HH Swamiji was initiated in to Sanyasa Ashram on 22nd March, 1954 by His Predecessor HH Sri Chandra Sekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal, reverentially called as Maha Swami .
HH Swamij then performed the first session of Holy Pooja to Sri Maha Thripura Sundari Sametha Sri Chandra Mouleeswara Swami, the Presiding Deity of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam.
In the afternoon, Kanakabhishem with gold bilwa leaves was performed to His Holiness Swamiji by His Holiness Sri Vijayendra araswathi Swamigal , the 70th Acharya of Sri Matam
The day was also marked with the distribution of 75 sets each of Iron Boxes, Tricycles to the physically challenged persons,computers to various schools situated in nearby villages,Sewing Machines,Cooking Vessels , new clothes to deserving Dalit couples and Brass Lamps to seventyfive village temples.
A Sahasra Chandi Maha Yagnam and Maha Rudra Yagnam which were started on 27th July, 2009 , culminated on the forenoon of the 7th August, 2009. There was continuous flow of bhajans , devotional lectures and the Jayanthi celebrations concluded for the day with the rendering of Violin Extravaganza by 75 renowned violin exponents led by Ms Kanya Kumari.
Celebrations continued on 8th August with Bhagavata Sammelanam, devotional lectures and Bhajans. His Holiness distributed uniforms to children from various schools in and around Kanchipuram.
August 9th started with Viswa Roopa Darshan at 5.00 am, followed by Mangala Isai. At 6.15 am, H.H. Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji rendered Swarna Pada Puja to HH. Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji. At 7.00 am, a grand procession started from Sri Kachapeswarar temple, majestically led by caprisoned elephants and nadaswaram troupe to Sri Matam with priests carrying prasadam from 150 temples, bikshavandanam materials, seervarisai by devotees, and offered to Swamijis.
750 pada pujas were conducted by devotees followed by Tiruvilakku pujai by ladies. A web-based Sanskrit eLearning Portal - "Indra Saraswathi", designed and developed by Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya(SCSVMV University) was launched by His Holiness. Vedic Scholars and Sanskrit Pandits were honoured by His Holiness. Pushpanjali was performed to His Holiness Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji by H.H. Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji.
