168th Vidvat Sadas - Arasavanangadu village
आरभ्य भगवत्पादान्
अद्वैतस्य प्रवर्धकान् ।
अद्वैतशास्त्रनिष्णातान् कामकोटिगुरून् भजे ॥
The \'Advaita Sabha\' was
established at Kumbakonam in Kalyabdam 4996 (CE 1894) by the 66th Jagadguru of Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Mulamnaya
Sarvajna Peetham, Shri Chandrashekharendra Saraswati Swamigal, who shone as a scholar and an experienced soul in
Advaita Vedanta.
With the participation of senior scholars like Mannargudi Shri Raju Shastrigal and the efforts of
astikas deeply dedicated to the shastras, sadas-es of this Advaita Sabha were held in Kumbakonam and the surrounding
shishya villages of the Kamakoti Peetam for many years. There are records showing that more than 80 scholars
participated in it at that time.
Over the years, due to circumstances of time and place, although the numbers of
scholars coming to this vidya decreased, by the anugraha of our Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swamigal, this Sabha
continued to be held uninterruptedly in Kanchipuram and in the divine presence of the Swamigal.
Presently, with the paripurna
anugraha of the Shricharanas, the shastra-s have seen resurgence, various shastra parikshas are being conducted,
many vidvans are emerging in the younger generation, and the sadas is being conducted more and more excellently.
In order to
re-establish the heritage of this sabha, as per the divine will of the Shricharanas, it has been taking place
recently in Kumbakonam, the place where this Sabha was established, and in the surrounding shishya villages of the
Kamakoti Peetam. Last year in the month of Panguni, this Sabha was held at Mudikondan village.
Continuing that, with the
blessings of our Kamakoti Peethadhipatis Jagadguru Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswati Shankaracharya Swamigal and
Jagadguru Shri Satya Chandrashekharendra Saraswati Shankaracharya Swamigal, the 168th Vidvat Sadas of the Advaita
Sabha was successfully conducted at Arasavanangadu near Tiruvarur, on the 14th and 15th of the month
of Panguni in the Vishvavasu year (2026 March 28, 29).
11 scholars participated in this Sadas. Vakyarthas from texts such as
Brahma Sutra Bhashyam, Nyaya Rakshamani, and Sankshepa Sharirakam were presented.
Furthermore, for the general public
to easily understand the Advaita principles, an upanyasa in Tamil was given by Brahmashri Mani Dravida Sastrigal on
the text 'Panchadasi'. (Two more Upanyasas are scheduled to take place online).
Similarly, the procession of the
divine portraits of the Advaita Sthapanacharya Jagadguru Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada and the Acharya-s who established
the Advaita Sabha took place with flowing devotion.
The videos of these events have been posted on the YouTube ( https://youtube.com/@advaitasabha ) and FaceBook (
https://www.facebook.com/advaita.sabha.kamakoti ) webpages of the
Advaita Sabha for the benefit of astika-s.
