Dr. R. Nagaswamy was one of India's most celebrated authorities on Indian art, epigraphy, and temple architecture. Serving as the founder Director of the Tamil Nadu Archaeology Department, he brought to light hundreds of ancient inscriptions and masterminded the preservation of historic monuments across South India.
