Centenarian Vedic Scholars Felicitated
Independence Day - Thursday, 15 Aug. 2013 - Kanchipuram
'Shatamaanam Bhavati' - a programme to honour two Centenarian Vedic Scholars was held at Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Kanchipuram. The programme was jointly organized with Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(T.T.D.). In the morning session, the programme commenced with Vedic Invocation and Srimatam Swastivachanam in the benign presence of His Holiness Pujyashri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji. His Holiness blessed the gathering of Vedic scholars with Anugraha Bhashanam. Scholars rendered Vedic Mantras in the different Veda Shakhas.
The afternoon session commenced with Vedic Invocation in the benign presence of His Holiness Pujyashri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji and Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji. Shrimatam Swastivachanam was rendered. Shri. Vibhishana Sharma, Project Officer, S.V. Institute of Higher Vedic Studies, welcomed the gathering and explained the significance of the programme organized to facilitate the centenarian Vedic Scholars. Shri. K. Bapi Raju, Chairman, T.T.D., in his speech, outlined the message given by His Holiness Pujyashri Mahaswamiji on the day our country attained Independence - 15 Aug. 1947 wherein His Holiness has stated that with independence comes liberties and freedom, as also responsibilities. Sri Venkat Ramana Reddy, J.E.O. , T.T.D. spoke and expressed his gratitude to Their Holinesses for guiding them on the path of spiritual activites. Brahmashri Parasurama Ghanapatigal - the Centenarian Vedic Scholar was honoured on the occasion with a special message of Blessings. Sri. Parasurama Ghanapatigal addressed the gathering of Vedic scholars. On behalf of the other centenarian scholar Sri. G. R. Ramachandra Sastrigal who could not be present in person, his son received the honours and blessings from His Holiness. The special prayers (stutis) composed by Sri. G. R. Ramachandra Sastrigal on 'Sri Venkateswara Swamy' and His Holiness was rendered by his son. Another notable feature of the programme was the honouring of Tri-Parampara Vedic Scholars. His Holiness Pujyashri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji and His Holiness Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji gave anugraha Bhashanam and blessed the gathering. The programme concluded with Shanti Mantra Patanam.
